It's OK for Bill O'Reilly to say in public and on the air that you, or people like you, should be killed. He does this frequently enough that it's not heat-of-the-moment venting, it's part of his routine.
But it's not OK for you to say that Bill O'Reilly should be killed.
The dynamic there, the why and why not, is what puts and keeps people like O'Reilly in prominent positions. It's an expression of dominance and power that has nothing to do with truth or reason.
It's like the way he argues "blather blather blather blather - SHUT UP! - blather blather".
He's not originating that, he's dancing to the tune we all hear; it wouldn't work if it was just him.
So. Those guys can say we should die, and they can snicker while we suffer, and we have to treat them with decency and respect and gratitude that we are allowed to live at all.
Until we're not.
