Israel has no intention of releasing any more Palestinian prisoners who belong to radical organisations such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Minister without Portfolio Tsippie Livni revealed this during an interview about the crisis within the Palestinian Authority.
On Tuesday, the Palestinian Prime Minister tendered his resignation as a member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement, following fierce criticism of his policy towards Israel. The movement blames him particularly for his apparent acceptance of Israel releasing no more than 350 out of a total of 6,000 Palestinian prisoners. Fatah's Central Committee has refused to accept Mr Abbas' resignation.
